Dear Cathedral Community,
Grace and peace to you.
I write to share a gentle reminder that I will be away during the month of May to take one month of sabbatical time, which remains from the original three-month sabbatical that was scheduled for last year and deferred from the previous year. I am deeply grateful to you and the Cathedral Chapter, for this opportunity to step away briefly from the daily rhythms of ministry for a time of rest and renewal.
During this time apart, I will dedicate space for writing, reading, prayer, and reflection. I also hope to learn a new skill—crocheting! Most importantly, I look forward to making joyful memories with my children as we explore waterparks, visit resorts, travel to other states, and possibly make a trip to the Dominican Republic.
While this will be a time set aside for renewal, I do plan to attend the farewell service for Bishop Mary Glasspool in New York City and will make every effort to be present at our ECW luncheon to honor Heather Jordan-Greaves.
As you may already know, during my absence, the Rev. Canon Harlon Dalton will provide oversight of our liturgical and pastoral life, with the support of Canon Garcia and Archdeacon Matthews.
On the operational side, Carolina Pujols and Cindy Hursty will oversee administrative and day-to-day functions. Additionally, Anne Bartholomew and John Decker, in their respective roles as Chair and Vice Chair of the Congregation Committee, will provide leadership and oversight for our programmatic life. You are in great hands!
Please know that you are in my heart and prayers, and I humbly ask for yours in return as I step away for this brief but meaningful time. I look forward to returning renewed and ready to continue our shared journey of faith and service.
With gratitude and blessing,
The Very Rev. Miguelina Howell
Cathedral Dean
