Dr. Dorothy Asch, is an inspiring and amazing person, who has had a lengthy vocation of service to God and Church. She lived ahead of her time and devoted much of her life to the theological education and spiritual formation of children. At the age of 94, Dr. Asch has touched the lives of many children over the decades and was in many ways a brave pioneer who paved the way for the women who followed.
Dr. Asch earned a BA in psychology from Adelphi University, a divinity degree from Garrett Theological Seminary and a PhD in theology from the University of Edinburgh, all by 1943! After earning her PhD, she served in the Navy for the final years of World War II.
She currently lives in Hamden and still volunteers a significant amount of time to St. Thomas' Church.
