Dear friends,

Thank you for your presence, input, and support as we gathered on Tuesday. As we continue our work together, you are invited to our next meeting on Monday, March 3 at 6:00pm. Dinner will be served, thanks to the support of the office Canon D Littlepage from the Bishops's Staff. We will welcome guest speaker Sarah Celotto, the founder of ALEX, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth and their families.

Sarah Celotto is a wife, mother of three, and fitness instructor. Originally from Ireland, she moved to Connecticut at age 7 and later attended Albertus Magnus College, where she earned a degree in Business and Economics. She also holds a Master’s in Elementary Education from the University of New Haven.

Sarah has worked in various roles, from managing a fitness studio to being a paraeducator for special needs students, ultimately choosing to stay home and raise her children. During this time, she became deeply involved in volunteer work with local charities and school PTOs.

When one of her children came out as transgender, Sarah committed to learning everything she could to support them. This journey led her to found ALEX, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth and their families. Through ALEX, Sarah aims to promote acceptance, love, and understanding for all individuals, helping those who have felt unseen or unsupported find their true selves in a judgment-free community.

In addition to her nonprofit work, Sarah now engages in public speaking to support families and the broader community through the transition journey. She helps guide individuals and families navigating this process, offering insights on creating understanding and fostering acceptance at every step.

Cameron Celotto is a 17 year old who is a part of the LGBTQ+ community. He was born and raised in Connecticut. He is currently working towards his high school diploma, with a passion for writing and art. Cameron is passionate about creating, and you can explore his work at www.solraymaterial.com. He attends multiple craft fairs a year where he sells his handmade items. He hopes to be able to illustrate his own comic series one day. When Cameron's mother suggested the idea of ALEX, he wanted to be a part of it. At the young age of 17, Cam has already experienced hate crimes and has seen many friends having to hide their authentic selves because of lack of support from family and loved ones. Cameron’s hope for ALEX is to provide a safe space for those who don’t have any, education for those who have a desire to learn, and an outlet for the marginalized to be seen, heard and loved for exactly who they are.
