Dear Cathedral Community,
Greetings from the Dominican Republic.
I write to share with you the sad news that our Cathedral family has lost a beloved life-long member. Yesterday in Florida, surrounded by her family, Rose Fichera Eagen passed away. Several years ago, Rose moved to Florida to be closer to her family.
Rose will long be remembered as one of the founders of Church Street Eats and as a fierce and devoted advocate for those in the margins. Her legacy will continue as we carry on our support and care for those we serve and share goods with at Mother Rose’s Boutique.
On Sunday, July 30, Canon Finn will accompany Church Street Eats in the downstairs dining room and lead prayers in thanksgiving for Rose’s life.
My gratitude to Jilda Aliotta, Richard Baraglia, and Nancy Jacobs for calling key members of our community to notify them of this loss.
We will communicate with you as soon as funeral arrangements have been made.
In the meantime, should you have any questions or concerns please contact Nancy Jacobs, who will be in contact with the family in the days to come.
May Rose rest in peace and rise in glory.
Faithfully,
Lina+
The Very Rev. Miguelina Howell †
O God, who by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ, destroyed death, and brought life and immortality to light: Grant that your servant Rose, being raised with him, may know the strength of his presence, and rejoice in his eternal glory; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
