A Message From Hartford Stage

Breakdancing Shakespears

Greetings! I'm writing because we're just a week out from performances of Breakdancing Shakespeare.

This signature teen performance program at Hartford Stage is truly special. Last year's performance was a highlight of my first year in Hartford. Witnessing teen performers dig into Shakespeare's rich language, and then seeing them erupt into exuberant dance - the combination becomes a dynamic art form unto itself, full of energy and passion! This year, Breakdancing Shakespeare will take on the pastoral comedy "As You Like It." I encourage you to attend one of the performances, coming up August 3-5 on our Main Stage, and experience it for yourself.

Unfortunately, funding for this unique program is at risk of being discontinued next year. To make sure we have the resources to produce Breakdancing Shakespeare in 2018, the show on Saturday, August 5, at 7:00 pm will be a special benefit performance. If you can afford the higher ticket price, please consider attending that night, or making a small donation to the program. You can read more about the benefit, and the program, below. Please feel free to forward this information to others who might be interested.

I hope we will see you at one of the shows!
